The sixth race of the RSYC Twilight Series on June 7 was held in initial hazy sunshine followed by dull cloud cover but with a steady 11 knot north-westerly breeze.

Competitors had an ebbing tide for the entire race, which increased in speed, creating tactical mark roundings. Those who recognised the strength of the current were the most successful.

In IRC1 the fleet was led by Paul Heys' J/124 Java Mocha and his largely female crew. They were able to extend their lead to over three minutes by the finish but on corrected time, first place went to Xtrovert, Andrew Maunder's X372. Tim Octon's Njos leads the series at this stage on seven points with Java Mocha and Starspray in joint second place.

In IRC2 John Cooper and Ian Townend's Hunter 707 showed clean pair of heels to take both line honours and a handicap win. They hold an enviable lead in the series with six straight wins.

If only Glass Onion had not been so late at the start, after engine problems, she might have given Tigerfeet more of a run for their money!

Another late starter was Ben Goodland in the Multihull class, but his Team Eberspacher was able to recover by the first mark, overhauling George Burn's Force X. George however holds the lead in the series by three points.

There are now just two more races to go in this Thursday evening event.
