THERE will be something fishy going on in Stockbridge at the end of June.
The village is holding a Trout Festival in its High Street as part of the Hampshire Food Festival on June 30 and July 1.
Organisers think it could well be the first of its kind in the UK and will include several local producers of fresh and smoked Hampshire trout in a festival market.
Punters will have the opportunity to taste the fish and watch cookery demonstrations, as well as check out stalls offering advice on the best wines to accompany the delicate-tasting fish.
As well as enjoying trout as a food, there will be information on fly fishing days and short breaks and help on the best equipment and techniques to use to catch a top trout.
Stockbridge's art galleries will also carry festival-related displays and, of course, visitors can simply sit by the River Test, which flows through the village, and count trout as they glide by.
