Drumming up support for the East Tytherley fete tomorrow (Saturday) will be the rhythm-based event HumDrumStrum.
The Bristol-based outfit, led by Simon Carver, will be encouraging up to 50 people at a time to join a drum circle in two half-hour sessions, starting at 3pm and 4pm.
Community drum circles are an exciting new experience that allow anyone, of any age, with any level of musical experience, to gather in a group and make music together.
"Ever tapped along to a great rhythm and fancied being a participant rather than a spectator?" asked Simon. "Then this is for you."
East Tytherley's traditional summer fete, which opens at Oaklands House at 2.30pm with the ringing of the church bells, is raising money for the 11th century St Peter's Church and a proposed children's playground in the village.
Activities include a fun dog show (entries on the day), scarecrow competition, children's races and an art tent. Refreshments will be available from the tea tent and all-day bar.
Wheelbarrow racing and a tug-o-war challenge will be accompanied by a barbecue later in the day, while the evening entertainment includes a hog roast and live music from Salisbury band 4 Tramps and Amps.
