England's World Cup wicketkeeper Paul Nixon heads the list of top players in the Lord's Taverners squad for their annual charity match at Hursley Park, near Winchester, on Sunday (June 10, 2.30pm).
The 36-year-old Leicestershire star is turning out to boost the Taverners in their efforts to raise money to aid young people with special needs. During the tea interval a Lord's Taverners' minibus will be presented to the Shepherd's Down Special School at nearby Compton.
Other stars on view include former Yorkshire and England paceman Paul Jarvis, batsman Simon Hinks (ex-Gloucester and Kent) and one-time Derbyshire batsman Paul Aldred.
Controversial TV host Chris Tarrant will bring his distinctive cricketing skills to the match and will be hoping there's no Chinese food on the menu for the pre-match charity luncheon!
The Taverners' squad also includes former Saints' stars Jason Dodd, Francis Benali, Gordon Watson, Mark Dennis and Paul Tisdale, with top charity fundraiser and marathon man Lloyd Scott named as the team's player/manager.
The Hursley Park team is skippered by former Hampshire keeper Adi Aymes.
The event offers something for all the family with a bouncy castle and face-painting competition on offer to youngsters and bar and refreshment facilities available throughout the match. Last year's event raised more than £30,000 and organisers are hoping to exceed that amount this time around.
Admission is free and a Grand Draw will include some attractive prizes. The ground will be signposted from the the A3090 at Hursley with the junction at Poles Lane.
