Southern Premier League Division 2.
Trojans (182-7) lost to Rowledge (266-5).
Trojans, missing five regulars, went down by 84 runs at the hands of Rowledge on Saturday.
However when both openers were out lbw with only 19 runs on the board, Trojans were praying for a repeat of last season when Rowledge were bowled out for 72. However a century third wicket partnership between Ricky Yates and David Lloyd nipped those thoughts in the bud.
When Yates was finally out for 54, Macnughten with 19 and Tanner with 40 gave Lloyd good support who was unbeaten for 105 in a final Rowledge score of 266 for 5. Marvin Sandiford on his return to the Trojans team took two wickets while Garry Nayyar had the excellent figures of 1 for 19 off 10 overs.
Trojans then lost Babidge and Mario Mohammed cheaply as Simon Bonser (10 overs for 9 runs) ensured that Trojans fell further behind the clock. However Mike Durand took 17 runs off a David Lloyd over and with opener Hal Mohammed the pair put together a good stand for the third wicket.
When Durand (53) was finally out, wicketkeeper Neil Sutherland (14) played some good shots before being caught in the deep. Anchorman Hal Mohammed went for 59 with the score on 145, this being his first Southern League fifty for Trojans.
Lloyd then dismissed both Higginson and Bixley, but Paul Williams (6no) joined Ed Boyd (7no), and the pair ensured that Trojans earned a third batting point.
