Southern Electric Premier League - Division 3.
Fair Oak (156-4) beat Bashley II (155 all out).
Motorway mayhem and a two-hour drive into the New Forest delayed the start of this match by 35 minutes, but when it did get under way the Oaks bowlers settled quickly.
Andy Mash trapped Bash skipper Shaun Lilley for a duck, but the hosts rallied through a second wicket stand of 80 between Neil Sexton (38) and Callum Maher (36), and at 84 for 1 looked set for a big total.
The introduction of Rhys Oxley, pictured below, to the attack changed the game. The leg-spinner took 4 for 26 in his ten overs as Bashley crumbled, Philip Morris (19) the only other batsman in double figures.
In the end the hosts were bowled out for 155, Derek Manning taking 2 for 14 and Greig Stewart and Shayne Freemantle bagging the other two wickets.
In reply Oaks, whose top-order batting has been a concern, began solidly. Dave Illsley and Andy Sturman took the score to 30 before Illsley was bowled for 15 by a ball from Chris Vaughan that kept low.
Ryan Tate injected some momentum to the innings, peppering the boundary in a 33-ball cameo of 35. But when he was stumped off Maher at 83 for 2 Oaks wobbled. Spinner Neil Taylor turned the screw with a fine ten-over spell of 2 for 21 and for a while the visitors struggled to make headway.
But Manning joined Sturman at 98 for 4, and together the pair took Oaks home with an unbeaten stand of 58. Manning scored 24 not out and Sturman, who survived several chances but knuckled down admirably, 48 not out as Oaks banked 22 points with nine overs to spare.
Fair Oak II, away to Sarisbury II in Hampshire County Division 4, were set a tough target as M McKeever (70 not out) boosted the Sarisbury total from 44 for 3 at the 20-over mark to an imposing 201 for 6. Opener Sam Freemantle chipped in with 42, while there were two wickets each for Lee Rennison and the occasional seam-up of Charlie Kemp.
In reply Sarisbury's Les Orr (0-26) and D O'Connell (2-26) bowled tightly, preventing Oaks from getting going. Although Matt Burrell (30), Kemp (27) and Rennison (24) all did well, the visitors were always behind the clock. J Hoskins (4-41) cashed in to leave Fair Oak 132 all out in the 44th over.
Fair Oak III lost at Easebourne in Division 2 North East after being dismissed for a below-par 128. Ian Bass top-scored with 53 and Andy Chapman contributed 32, while L Fourie was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 33. In reply Easebourne lost two early wickets to Lloyd Vincent, but T Dixon (69no) and P White (30no) steered the men from Sussex to victory with an unbroken stand of 106.
In Division 4 South Central Dan Blake top scored with 26 and Richard Mash hit 24 as Fair Oak IV found that 116 all out (Gaurav 4-12) was enough to beat Trojans IV. Trojans amassed just 68, N Barnett top scoring with 20. Jon Mash (3-5) and Andy Leamon (3-3) skittled the Trojans lower order.
