It was trophies meets technology as Worthys Youth Football Club celebrated a fantastic season with its Presentation Evening at INTECH Science Centre recently.
More than 400 guests saw the club's 150 players receive individual trophies, and then all held their breath as the special awards for Most Improved Player, Manager's/Parents' Player, and Players' Player were revealed.
A splendid buffet followed and, while the children happily tested the resilience of INTECH's many interactive exhibits, the adults raised a glass to toast a very successful season (the U9s boys' and U14s girls' A' teams in particular had brought home silverware).
Tim Beanland, event organiser and U9s manager, said: "It is fantastic to see so many local people come together to support the club. There is a genuine community spirit and the venue is just perfect."
WYFC is an FA Charter Standard Development Club with 11 teams of girls and boys aged between 8 and 16. For details of how to join, contact Tim Beanland on t.beanland@btopenworld.com or Tel. 01962 883505.
