A NEW charity shop to benefit Winchester Cathedral has opened its doors in the city.
The store, which is called Cloisters, is inside the King's Walk shopping arcade near the main post office.
Archdeacon John Guille presided over the opening ceremony last Friday.
Volunteers are running the shop, and if enough people are willing to give up a little time, it will be open six days a week.
The planned opening hours are 10am to 4pm from Monday to Saturday, with no trading on Sunday.
The cathedral said quite a few volunteers had already stepped forward, but not enough to staff the proposed hours.
As a result, it is asking for a few extra volunteers. The store is also looking for donations of stock.
Once the shop's costs are covered, all the proceeds will be given to the cathedral.
Call Suzie McHeyzer on 01962 882427, or Margaret Braddock on 01962 855156 during the evenings, if you can help at the store or donate some goods.
