A LARGE farming estate in Hampshire is on the market with Savills Winchester.
The 1,594-acre Somborne Estate mostly near Little Somborne with one parcel of land near King's Somborne.
The land is available as a whole or in five lots. There are two houses, a new grain store and estate office, with further farm buildings throughout the estate.
The principal farmhouse has recently been completed and provides spacious modern accommodation.
The farm is currently managed with a farm manager, arable foreman and part-time tractor driver.
Savills says it has been well managed over the years with winter wheat yields averaging 10 tonnes per hectare and oil seed rape and oats yielding averages of about 4.7 tonnes per hectare and 7.7 tonnes per hectare respectively.
The land forms part of an Entry Level Scheme and a Woodland Grant Scheme. The woodland comprises mature hardwoods, hazel coppice and other mixed species trees. Coppicing of the hazel has taken place over many years.
George Syrett of Savills in Winchester said: “Following some major sales last year this is the first large commercial arable estate to come to the market in Hampshire and we expect a great deal of interest. With farmland being mainly south facing and field sizes on this estate averaging 43 acres, it is ideal for modern farm machinery and commercial farming practices and we are very excited to see how the market will respond.”
