MOST people think plans to divert a major Winchester road into a new development is a bad idea, according to a newspaper survey.
Seventy per cent of people thought it was wrong to run Andover Road into the 2,000-home Barton Farm development, where building is due to start later this year.
Just under a quarter believed the diversion, to help integrate the new suburb into the rest of the city, was a good thing. Six per cent did not know.
In total, 279 people voted in the poll on the Chronicle website for a two-week period.
The website is now conducting a new poll on another topical issue, on the impending decision over the future of civic sports facilities.
The city council is deciding on whether to rebuild or revamp the centre at River Park and whether to take some of the cricket field.
The Fit for the Future pressure group wants to see a new centre on playing fields at Bar End.
The new question on the website is: Is North Walls Park the best place for a new leisure centre in Winchester?
