A HAMPSHIRE restaurant is paying tribute to war veterans with a free lunch on Monday (Nov 11).
The English Partridge, in Bighton, near Alresford, will serve a three-course meal to former soldiers to thank them for their service.
It is one of the Miller’s Collection of restaurants that is also running similar lunches at The Peat Spade Inn, Longstock, The Anchor in Lower Froyle and The Queens Arms near Newbury.
This is the fifth year the Millers Collection has run this scheme, and has also raised £20,000 for the Poppy Appeal during that time.
Clare Peppiatt, community fundraiser for The Royal British Legion, said: “This wonderful occasion brings together a community of veterans and serving military who can chat over their military experiences and enjoy the wonderful hospitality the restaurants provide for free.
“It is so heart warming to know just as the nation has worn its poppy that people’s generosity continues to enable the RBL to help so many of the Armed Forces community, past, present and their families.”
