WINCHESTER Churches Nightshelter, one of the city’s key homeless charities, is inviting residents to find out more about the challenges and hardships experienced by the homeless at its AGM and annual supporters’ evening on Tuesday (Nov 12).
The Nightshelter, on Jewry Street, has 17 beds in constant demand and in the last year had to turn away over 470 people.
Speakers will include councillors who work with the homeless to help rebuild their lives, guests of the Nightshelter who will talk about life in and after staying at the Nightshelter and Penyards Letting and Management who have been supporting the Nightshelter’s guests this year with training and advice.
Michele Price, Nightshelter manager said: “The evening is not only an opportunity to hear about the progressive work that we do in helping those in crisis start to rebuild their lives, but our chance to say a big thank you to everyone who supports us in achieving this – those who volunteer, donate or help to raise awareness of our work.”
The meeting will be at St Peter’s Church, Jewry Street, starting at 6.45pm.
