HE’S taken the first step on the road to superstardom.

Eight-year-old Winchester schoolboy Zak Edwards will be seen around the world after he appeared in the music video for McFly’s latest single, Love is on the Radio.

Zak is one of four boys who play younger doubles of the band, with the St Bede Primary School pupil the ‘mini-me’ of guitarist and vocalist Tom Fletcher.

He said: “I had 10 out of 10 when it comes to fun. My favourite part would be standing in front of the camera holding a £5,000 guitar. This was probably the best thing I have done so far because I also got to see a [Aston Martin] DBS James Bond original.”

It is the latest in a number of gigs with Zak’s credits including several music videos as well as television adverts for Littlewoods and Robinsons.

Mum Donna Jeffery, 34, of Chaundler Road, Abbotts Barton, said: “He’s got an agent and has been through many auditions. He is quite chilled about it all since he started and I think he likes getting the money!

“I would say he gets one job every 10 auditions. It’s a lot of work but he is definitely still enjoying it.”

Zak, who plays the drums, said McFly are his third favourite pop stars behind The Wanted and David Guetta but he had other ideas about his future.

He said: “I want to be in a rock band when I am older rather than a pop band. I’ve been playing the drums for two years and it is great fun. I like a lot of rock bands and don’t have a favourite but I know it’s rock that I want to do.”

Donna added: “He really loves the drums and I’m confident he can go all the way and reach his dreams.”
