ROGUE traders could try to profit from the damage of the St Jude storm, warns Hampshire County Council.
Trading Standards has issued a warning to the public that crafty criminals may try to scam older and vulnerable people by persuading them to commission unnecessary work.
The department fears that some people might be conned by being charged exorbitant prices.
It urges anyone to contact their insurance companies should damage be found before discussing the issues with contractors.
They advise householders to obtain at least three written quotes before any work is done and only to ever use a reputable or recommended firm.
If anyone has any information about rogue traders or needs advice on doorstep crime then please contact the Hampshire Trading Standards Doorstep Crime Quick Response Team on 01962 833666.
