POLICE officers and staff from other agencies will be out in force at West Wellow next week.
Officers will be giving advice on crime prevention and carrying out property marking and it is all part of Community Engagement Week – an initiative involving Hampshire Police, Test Valley Borough Council, Hampshire Fire and Rescue and Aster Communities (housing association) under the umbrella of the Test Valley Partnership.
The event starts on Tuesday (November 5 and runs until Friday (November 8).
Romsey police chief Inspector Jackie Willson said: “Local officers will be out and about in Wellow listening and dealing with local issues. “Whilst the focus is on Wellow, we would open the invitation to anyone in Romsey to come along to the property marking sessions where we will be scanning on details of any identifiable property to the Hermes database so if property is recovered it can be reunited with its owner. This includes anything with a serial number/barcode. We will be coding cycles too.” The crime prevention and property marking event will be held in the Nightingale Room at Wellow Village Hall between 10am and midday on Tuesday and representatives from the police and fire service along with Test Valley Borough Council and Aster Communities (housing) staff will be present too.
There will be a street surgery in Gurnays Mead between 10.30am and 3pm on Wednesday where residents will be able to speak to police officers about any issues they are worried about.
And on Thursday there young people are invited to join the team for a litter pick between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. People who would like to take part are asked to meet up at the Lower Common Road bus stop. A treat is promised at the end of the clean-up. On Thursday evening there will be another street surgery at Gurnays Mead between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
The week concludes on Friday with another crime prevention and property marking event at Wellow Village Hall between midday and 2pm.
