A SPOOKY sleepover at Winchester’s Theatre Royal is on offer this Halloween with a possible guest appearance by one for four ghosts said to haunt the building.
The adult-only “On a Dark, Dark Night” at the Jewry Street theatre invites people with nerves of steel to spend tonight (October 31) in the theatre listening to ghost stories.
Tickets cost £7.50 and include a ‘survivors’ breakfast’ for those who wish to bring along their sleeping bags and camp out at the theatre which claims to have ghosts wandering its hall.
The building, which dates to 1850, is said to be home to the ghost of John Simpkins, one of the brothers who owned the theatre between 1912 and 1934.
The theatre bars will be open until 2am. Doors open at 11pm and reopen at 5.30am for anyone able to endure the whole night.
