ONE of the UK’s biggest radio stations is hosting Winchester’s annual Christmas Lights switch-on.
Capital FM’s breakfast show DJs Paul Gillies and Emily Segal will compere the event in The Broadway on Thursday, November 14, which will see 25,000 lights illuminate the city.
One lucky person will get the honour of throwing the switch as the role is the prize for the best Christmas fancy dress competition.
Around 6,000 people are expected to attend the event, which starts at 3pm and officially kicks off Winchester’s Christmas celebrations.
The DJs are joined by the Capital Street Stars who will be taking pictures of the crowd and there will also be a market.
Local school choirs and street dancers will also be on show as well as the cast of this year’s Theatre Royal pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
