STUDENTS at Twyford School received a visit from a special guest last week (October 18) when the winner of TV’s The Apprentice came to judge their competition.
Tom Pellereau, a former Twyford pupil, was welcomed back to the school as a panel judge for the year eight’s chocolate bar competition as part a design and technology project.
The competition involved each of the 30 year eight students presenting their chocolate bars and marketing strategies to the judges in a dragon-den style, after they had made vacuum moulds and specialised graphics for the wrappers.
Judging alongside Mr Pellereau on the panel was head of development, Jenny Hipwell, and head of art, Rosy Greenleaf.
Head of design and technology, Andrew Lewis, said: “After some great presentations and great deliberation, Mimi Habib was chosen as the winner with her chocolate bar called Rebel.
“Tom said working with Lord Sugar had been a great experience and that winning the programme had changed his life.”
After the presentation, Mr Pellereau spoke to parents and teachers about his experiences on The Apprentice, working with Lord Sugar and his latest projects, which include the launch of a range of childcare products following the birth of his son, Jack, last year.
