POLICE are again warning Hampshire residents to beware bogus phone calls on home security.
Reports have been received of unsolicited calls from a company offering intruder alarms, falsely claiming to be working with police.
The company appears to be targeting elderly and vulnerable people, offering an intruder alarm system in response to recent ‘crimes’ in the area.
Residents are reminded to research a company before agreeing to any sales visit and to remove their details from sales lists and avoid future problems by contacting the Telephone Preference Service on 0845 070 0707 and the Mailing Preference Service on 0845 703 4599.
Officers also advise calling the police if sales reps do not leave a property when requested to.
Anyone with concerns should contact their Safer Neighbourhoods Team on 101.
