CHILDREN from Chandler’s Ford and Eastleigh were treated to a visit from an award-winning author yesterday.
Liz Pichon, the author of the Tom Gates books for children, was welcomed at Chandler's Ford Library, by around 50 children.
The writer and illustrator discussed her books, drew pictures with them and encouraged the children with their own story ideas.
Earlier in the day she visited The Point in Eastleigh, where 150 pupils from Nightingale, Cherbourg, and Norwood primary schools heard her read from her books and ask her questions.
She also found time to visit Shamblehurst Primary School in Hedge End.
The events were organised by the Hampshire Library Service.
Catherine Marsden, of Chandler’s Ford’s Library outreach team, said: “They were really, really laughing and a lot of the kids are familiar with her books anyway, so it was great for them to be able to meet her.”
