POLICE have released an image of a suspected burglar who stole jewellery from a Winchester home earlier this week.

Intruders broke into a house in Stoney Lane, Weeke, on Monday, October 14 between 11.15am and 11.45am, taking jewellery, two watches and an unknown amount of Euros.

Two men were spotted climbing over the fence at the front of the house and heading off towards Bereweeke Avenue, in the direction of Waitrose Supermarket.

One was described as white, early 30s, with short hair thinning on top, wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and black and white trainers.

The other was white, mid 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall, medium build wearing dark clothing.

PC Cassandra Hakin said: “A quick-thinking witness took a photograph of the first suspect on a mobile phone camera. We’re releasing the image in the hope someone may have spotted this man in the area and may be able to assist our enquiries.”
