The aftermath of the fire in West Street this afternoon
AN Alresford fish and chip shop was today damaged by fire.
Firefighters fought a blaze that erupted in the Dave’s Fish and Chips in Alresford at around 11.25am.
Using breathing apparatus, two hoses and a jet they took around 40 minutes to extinguish the flames on the ground floor.
Crews attended from Winchester and Alresford.
The shop on the main thoroughfare of West Street had been due to open at 11.30am.
The fire caused major disruption to traffic on West Street with the road closed to traffic diverted away from the town centre.
