A BEREAVED former Winchester medic whose wife and five children were killed in an arson attack has met the father whose family were killed in a fire in Leicester last month, it has been reported.
Dr Abdul Shakoor lost six members of his family in the arson at their home in Harlow, Essex, last October.
He had previously worked at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and three of his children attended Stanmore Primary School.
Dr Shakoor has met and spoke to Dr Muhammad Taifiq al-Sattar whose wife and three children were buried yesterday. (SAT) Dr Shakoor, a registrar endocrinologist, is reported to have said: “I knew what a tough time he would be going through and just wanted to offer my support. Of course, hearing about his tragedy was shocking and made me relive my own situation.”
Det Supt Rob Vinson, leading the investigation into the Harlow murders, said: “It’s certainly possible there is a link but we have yet to make that connection.”
Two men have been arrested in connection with the Harlow fire. Eight people have been charged with murder in Leicester.
