WINCHESTER traffic bosses are tightening parking restrictions in an inner suburb to make life easier for residents.
Residents-only parking in Hyde Abbey Road will be restricted to permit holders between 8am and now 10pm, Monday-Saturday.
That will stop the road, close to the city centre pubs and restaurants, being used by people in the evenings.
Restrictions in nearby Gordon Road, King Alfred Place and King Alfred Terrace which were incorrectly marked as 8am-6pm due to an error in the existing order will also be until 10pm.
A poor response to a public consultation in the northern part of Hyde has meant proposed changes there have been dropped.
Meanwhile double yellow lines will be painted in Canon Street.
Vehicles have been parking on the single yellow outside the restricted hours of ‘no waiting 8am-6pm’ causing obstruction to emergency vehicles.
