A RESIDENT at a West Meon care home has been reunited with an old friend after 52 years.
Bob Bosberry, 77, was an engineer in the army and worked extensively on modifying the famous Austin Champ 4x4.
Based in Detmold, Germany, Mr Bosberry enjoyed his time working on the all-purpose British Military jeep and reluctantly had to sell his own Champ in 1960.
But last Friday (August 2), the Champ Owners Club brought four vehicles to Westbury House Nursing Home.
Bob's daughter, Wendy Bosberry, said: “Dad really enjoyed his day out in the Champ, this will be something he will never forget”.
Now in fulltime care at Westbury House owing to a neurological condition, Mr Bosberry spent the day chatting to owners and darting around the countryside in the jeep.
Phil Plumb, of the Champ Owners Club, said: “It is a pleasure for us as Champ Club owners to help Bob rekindle some memories of such a historical British vehicle.”
