WORK has started this week on improving a busy Winchester road.
Hampshire County Council is repairing and resurfacing Stanmore Lane, Stanmore, as part of Operation Resilience.
Repairs to road humps started on August 5 but the bulk of the work begins next Monday (Aug 12) for around two weeks, with the road closed in various places.
A diversion will be implemented via St Cross, Badger Farm Road and Romsey Road while access will be maintained for residents, although there will be times when it will be prevented due to a hot surface.
Cllr Jamie Scott, Stanmore ward member, said: “I’m very, very pleased with this. Cllr Derek Green and I met executive member Mel Kendal at the road in February and this is the result of that site visit.”
