MANY questions remain unanswered over the proposed solar farm at Bishop’s Sutton, according to the parish chairman.
Consultants, URS, attended the parish council last week to discuss the scheme for 52,000 panels on 48 acres on farmland north of Whitehill Lane and east of the aptly-named Sun Lane.
Chairman, Aileen Miller, said: “There are still all sorts of queries about the running of it. People are very concerned. They want reassurances about lightning strike on panels and whether that could affect our power supply. They are concerned that a Spanish company has not built one in England before.”
A planning application is awaited. It is the third solar scheme in the Alresford area, following ones at Itchen Stoke and at Sevington, near Tichborne, which was later withdrawn.
