A MAN who hounded a Winchester woman has been jailed for seven days.
Varun Kumar, 26, of no fixed abode, sent numerous unwanted text messages to Amelia Salter, Basingstoke Magistrates Court heard.
Kumar, followed her home from work and knocked on her door when she was inside whilst knowing that she did not want his attention, between June 28 and July 26.
Magistrates said jail was unavoidable as the offence was so serious with a high level of premeditated contact and the ignoring of repeated requests to stop.
They also imposed a restraining order until July 28 2014 banning Kumar from communicating or interfering with Ms Salter or entering Hampshire. They also ordered his mobile phone be forfeited and destroyed.
Kumar, who admitted harassment, was also ordered to pay compensation of £350 and costs of £85.
An allegation that he caused Ms Salter fear of violence was withdrawn.
