POLICE are warning motorists to expect heavy delays around Winchester next weekend (August 9 – 11).
Around 27,000 people are expected to attend The Boomtown Fair at the Matterley Estate.
Officers said that commuters should be especially mindful of congestion in and around the city during the morning and evening periods.
All cross-overs along the A31 between the Percy Hobbs roundabout and Ovington roundabout will be closed from 7pm on Wednesday, August 7, until 7pm on Monday, August 12.
Superintendent James Fulton said: “We have been working closely with the organisers of this event, the highways departments at Winchester City and Hampshire County Council and also staff at Matterley Bowl to ensure disruption to local residents and other members of the public is kept to a minimum whilst maintaining everyone’s safety.”
