WINCHESTER family support charity Home-Start will benefit from a special opening of Longstock Park Water Garden on Sunday August 18.
The charity is one of a handful from across the south that has been chosen to gain from just a dozen openings during the year.
“We are very privileged to have been chosen, as it means that we will receive the entry fees from that day,” said event organiser Alison Taylor. “We will need to man the car park, entry desk and provide stewards around the park, but as you can imagine our volunteers are all lining up to spend an afternoon in this lovely place.”
The Water Garden at Longstock is part of the Leckford Estate (the Waitrose Farm) and is part of the John Lewis Partnership which has given its permission for this charity opening.
The garden which is wheelchair accessible will be open from 2-5pm. Picnics are permitted in the car park and teas and the new Leckford Farm Shop at Longstock Park Nursery will be open until 5pm.
