A HAMPSHIRE man has been arrested after a theft at a Winchester deli last week.
An 18-year-old from Southsea was arrested on suspicion of burglary after £500 was stolen from the till of Tom’s Deli in St Georges Street.
The incident occurred at around 3.20pm on Monday, July 22.
Tom Romita, owner of the shop since 1989, said: “I was out the back and one of my staff was behind the till. She was distracted by something and then the till was raided. It’s the first time this has happened to me.
“If I had been out here I don’t think it would have happened. I chased after them up the street but they were too fast for me.”
The man has been bailed until September 23.
