WINCHESTER residents are being warned to keep their cars secure after a spate of break-ins.
Thieves stole valuables from three cars in Chilbolton Avenue and Fairfield Road, Fulflood, overnight on Wednesday, July 24.
A disabled blue badge, a TomTom sat nav and a Hewlett Packard laptop were taken from the vehicles, which were all parked in driveways.
PC Glen Willis-Long said: “Most offences of theft from vehicle are opportunist. If valuable possessions such as handbags, sat navs, mobile phones and cameras are left inside a vehicle, it is much more likely to be targeted by thieves.
“My simple message to motorists is, when leaving your car, close all windows, lock your doors and remove all valuable items. Unfortunately a lot of people put their valuables in the boot or in footwells and even though they are out of sight, they are by no means safe.”
Anyone with information on the incident should contact PC Willis-Long at Winchester Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
