A WINCHESTER pub landlord has been charged with assault.
Rob Plunton, 25, managing tenant at The Ship Inn, Wales Street, was arrested by police on July 4 on suspicion of assault at the pub and has since been charged with assault by beating.
Plunton has been bailed to appear before Basingstoke Magistrates on August 13.
The pub was closed following the incident and reopened on July 12.
A spokesman for pub owners Marston’s confirmed The Ship was under new, temporary management, but declined to comment on the reasons why.
The watering hole had been run newly-weds Rob and Hannah Plunton since last summer.
They tied the knot at St Peter's Catholic Church in Winchester, with reality TV star and pop singer, Yousseph “Chico” Slimani, as their best man.
