AS temperatures soared and the paparazzi scrambled, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped outside to show the world a future king.
One person who’ll know how the Duchess was feeling, was Bishopstoke mum, Terri Hayter, 23.
At Winchester maternity unit, she was recovering from giving birth to Scarlett, born the same day on Monday weighing 7lb 4oz.
Terri, a carer, said: “This is our first child, so we’re elated. It’s just like an adrenaline rush at the moment. It’s fun to think that she shares a birthday with the future king.”
The baby’s father is Jim Bone, 32, a roofer from Bishopstoke.
“She was born before the royal baby though. We found out that we get a medallion because she has been born on the same day – but we have to scan some things and apply for it,” Ms Hayter said.
With the world’s lens was fixed on the private Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, London, Hampshire was also busy welcoming the Royal baby.
At The King’s Head in Hursley, manager Jimmy Hajiantoni cracked open some bubbly for his customers to wet the baby’s head in style.
He said: “This is great news. I am absolutely delighted for them. They are a great couple and I hope they can savour it all.”
