A CHARITY tennis tournament has served up £4,000 for family support charity Home-Start Winchester and Districts.
Organised by Kerry Coleman, over 100 players enjoyed a hectic morning of matches on courts in and around Winchester, followed by a picnic lunch at Longwood.
Now a firm fixture in the tennis calendar, players were able to shop for bags, clothing, pashminas, jewellery and toiletries from stallholders over lunch and there was even an opportunity to enjoy a reflexology session after their hard morning’s play.
“Our thanks go to Jo Tyler who masterminded the delicious lunch and our generous sponsor Simon Brown of IVC, who helped us to raise such an amazing sum of money,” said Home-Start chairman Liz Cooper.
The money raised will support the charity’s work with young families within a twelve mile radius of the city, whose volunteers work alongside parents in their own homes to help raise their self-confidence and ability to cope.
