IT’S not the Tour de France but it may have felt like it by the end.
More than 100 cyclists took part in the Winchester to Wantage ride on Sunday (July 14).
Mayor and Mayoress of Winchester, Ernie and Barbara Jeffs, launched the ride at Hyde Abbey Gardens at 10am.
Organised by Hyde900, this year’s route was reversed to make Winchester the starting point. Spanning 52 miles, it follows a number of landmarks central to King Alfred’s history.
The ride is non-competitive but the first to finish was Ben Gibbs in just under three hours.
