WINCHESTER sporting legends returned to the city last weekend to raise money for charity.
Around 1,000 people turned out on Sunday (July 14) to Winchester City Community Football Club take on members of the 2004 FA Vase-winning side.
The fun day was in aid of Colden Common children’s charity the Joe Glover Trust, who also fielded a team against City.
It was one to forget for the legends though as they lost 5-1 to City, while the Joe Glover XI triumphed 1-0.
The event also featured a bouncy castle, merry-go-round, face painting and other family activities.
David Malone, director of football, said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day. We had close to 1,000 people in and although I don’t know the final amount we have raised a good sum for the Joe Glover Trust.
“We had good fun with the trust and we would like to do lots more with them in the future. They are a very worthwhile local charity.”
