THE artistic talent of a Hampshire market town has been on show this weekend.
Alresford Art Society’s Annual Exhibition was staged in the town’s Community Centre.
Some 54 members of the 170 society members, aged from 17 to 90, have been showing their work in oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolour and graphite, also sculpture and collage.
Subjects ranged from seascapes to landscapes, Hampshire views and buildings and vibrant holiday scenes, to delicate flower studies and portraits - both animal and human.
Art Society chairman Sue Gentry said: “It’s lovely. There are quite a few new exhibitors with fresh, colourful bright inspiring pieces. We bring a touch of colour to the town and spread a little sunshine.”
The society has members from as far as Farringdon and Colden Common drawn partly by the fact the society runs classes teaching people how to paint.
The society stepped in to run classes when local education authority classes at Perins School stopped about five years ago.
The exhibition ran from last Friday to Sunday but more work by members will be on display in the town’s library in Broad Street during July.
