A MARATHON charity trek across the country continued in Winchester this week.
The city’s Salvation Army branch in Parchment Street welcomed Andy Peddle on Wednesday (July 10), who is walking 8,000 miles around Britain and Ireland, visiting every Salvation Army centres along the way.
Mr Peddle, 70, began the tour in May to raise funds and awareness for the army’s homeless and anti-human trafficking programmes and has been to more than 480 centres so far.
The Winchester members who greeted him included chief officer Teresa (corr) Harris, a day before she left to join the Shirley branch after eight years in the city.
She said: “It’s been an amazing eight years. I know I’m only going down the road, but I will fondly remember my time here and it’s the longest I’ve ever been at one branch.”
