AN annual cycle ride to remember England’s greatest king returns this Sunday. (JULY14) The Winchester to Wantage Cycle Ride links the birth and deathplace of King Alfred the Great.
The 6th annual W2W ride takes place this Sunday, organised by Hyde 900 founded to mark the 900th anniversary of the reburial of the monarch in Hyde Abbey.
About 100 riders will set off from Hyde Abbey Garden, next to River Park Leisure Centre car park. They will be sent on their way by Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Ernie Jeffs, at 10am.
The non-competitive ride is 52 miles of quiet country lanes through the Bourne Valley, over the North Hampshire Downs, to the historic town of Wantage.
