A LORRY driver had a lucky escape when his truck hit a Romsey railway bridge this morning (Wednesday July 10). The 38-year-old Netley Abbey man was badly shaken but otherwise unhurt in the incident at Greatbridge Road. His Daf lorry was travelling south along the A3057 when the accident happened shortly before 11am. The road was blocked and police have set up diversions around the accident. Police say the road is likely to be closed for several hours while the vehicle is recovered. Traffic built up around the crash site for a time and police are trying to find suitable alternative routes for HGV drivers because of height restrictions on other railway bridges in the town.
