A NEW health walk has started in Stanmore, expanding the Winchester Health Walks programme.
The programme is part of Walking for Health, England’s largest network of health walk schemes.
Run by the Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Support, they’re free and aimed at those who are not already active.
Lydia Lockhart, Winchester City Council’s active lifestyle officer, said: “These walks not only help people to become more active in a social environment, they also allow people to discover local walks which they may have not been aware of.”
There is already a similar walk in Weeke, and two in the city centre.
The Stanmore Health Walk is every Wednesday, all year round, meeting at The Carroll Centre, Somers Road, at 1.30pm.
The walks are an hour long, during which the group covers approximately two and a half miles.
