WINCHESTER Student Union’s bar manager is the first ever winner of a new award for the licensed industry.
Tom Manville received the Jeremy Allen Award for excellence in training at a luncheon held at London’s Grosvenor House in May, attended by licensed trade professionals from across the UK.
The award recognises passion and commitment to quality training and customer service.
In addition to a trophy, Mr Manville will receive a week’s business mentoring, funded by the licensing law experts, Poppleston Allen.
Tim Hulme, chief executive of officer of the industry’s professional body, said: “Tom ompressed the judges with his dedication to training and motivating his staff, most of whom were new to the business. He excels at educating them on all aspects of responsibility, age, alcohol and supervision, and has developed training programmes both in and away from the business for all new entrants.”
The Jeremy Allen Award was launched in 2012 in conjunction with licensing law specialists Poppleston Allen, in memory of the company’s founding partner who died suddenly in 2011.
