WINCHESTER schoolchildren enjoyed a visit from not one but three VIPs to mark the opening of their new playhouse.
Not only the mayor, dressed on all his finery and his mayoress but superhero Spiderman were at the school last Thursday. (JUNE 20) Mayor and mayoress Ernie and Barbara Jeffs officially opened the new Wendy House at Stanmore Primary School.
One pupil, Summer Neale, even got a chance to wear the mayor’s hat.
Joining in the fun was ‘Spiderman’, better known as Struan Robertson, a friend of Reception teacher Sophie Clark. As well as being a part-time superhero he is a talented musician and played his guitar for the children after the mayor left.
The Friends of Stanmore School raised £5,000 with Tesco store in Winnall donating £150 pounds to buy some outdoor toys.
