ARMED Forces Week will be marked in Romsey with a flag-raising ceremony and a concert.
Test Valley’s deputy mayor, Jan Lovell, will hoist the armed forces flag at the Crosfield Hall on Monday at 11am. At the same time borough mayor Janet Whiteley will raise a flag at Andover Guildhall.
And on Armed Forces Day itself, Saturday, June 29, The Band and Pipes and Drums of the Brigade of Gurkhas are taking part in a charity concert in the grounds of The Island, at Greatbridge, near Romsey.
The two-hour concert starts at 8pm and is in the grounds of Sarah and Christopher Saunders-Davies’s home.
All money raised at the concert will go to two charities. These are Gurkha Welfare Trust, which supports poverty-stricken Gurkhas of the British Crown and dependents, and the Cairn Trust, which helps poor children in the Himalayan foothills of Nepal.
The concert, which concludes with a fireworks display, is Romsey and Test Valley’s contribution to Armed Forces Day, 2013.
