A WINCHESTER hospice has nominated a Hampshire businesswoman for a prestigious award.
Naomi House hospice has nominated Dawn Smith for the annual Chairman’s Award after she organised fundraisers at Southampton-based heating company Dimplex, where she works.
Dawn has been raising money for the Sutton Scotney hospice for more than five years and runs a recycling scheme at the company’s head office where staff donate unwanted goods which are traded for cash.
She said: “I’m delighted and humbled to be nominated because our fundraising is such an easy thing to do and helps a local cause that touches many of our lives. “Everyone here has really got behind the fundraising because it works for everyone, not only does it raise money but it also helps us de-clutter our homes!”
The award recognises people who have made a significant contribution to the charity and will judged later this year.
It will be presented by outgoing chairman Khalid Aziz, who steps down in September.
