A WINCHESTER man with a history of amphetamine abuse stretching back to the 1960s died from natural causes, an inquest heard.

A hearing in Winchester yesterday heard that Noel Whelan, 59, had no known next of kin.

He died at his home in Staple Gardens in December last year, the result of hypertensive heart disease.

Grahame Short, coroner for central Hampshire, recorded a verdict of death due to natural causes.
