HAMPSHIRE students will battle in a business competition final in London this week.
Three business and enterprise students from Eastleigh College will take part in the Barclays Built for Business final at Canary Wharf on Friday (June 14).
The competition asks for entrants to pitch an original business idea with a budget of £10,000.
Karina Diaz, 17, Catherine Sachdev, 17 and Amy Taylor, 19, came up with Revamp, a clothing and accessory business which creates individual custom items.
The team, one of 10 finalists, will have five minutes to pitch their idea to a panel of professionals. They will also take part in a careers workshop and get a tour of the Barclays trading floor.
Karina, from Hedge End, said: “We’re really looking forward to it as we never thought that we would get this far. It’s been such a great experience; we’ve learnt a lot of skills, such as team work, finance and customer service which should really help us when applying to any potential employers further in the future.”
Catherine, from Botley, added: “We were a bit unsure about whether people would like it, so this is a really exciting opportunity for us; the reaction has been really great.”
The project could also receive local government funding to help get the business up and running.
The prize for the winners is a trophy and an iPad mini for each member.
