WINCHESTER residents raised hundreds of pounds for a children’s charity last week.
The March Hare pub in Priors Dean Road, Harestock, hosted a charity fun day on Sunday (May 26) to raise money for children’s charity Young Epilepsy.
It was organised by Caroline Kanel whose three-year-old granddaughter Katey (corr) suffers from myoclonic epilepsy which requires heavy medication.
Caroline, 51, of Main Road, Crawley, said: “This stops children developing skills and Katey cannot communicate properly. It affects her balance and she has to wear head guards. Staff at the pub said they wanted to do a charity event and would I help organise it so and I couldn’t think of a better charity.
“The event was absolutely brilliant and we have been amazed by people’s generosity. We are still counting but I’m hoping we can get more than £600, which was my target.”
Activities included a bouncy castle, children’s games, stalls, and a raffle, with prizes supplied by local businesses.
