A JUNIOR school in Chandler’s Ford has been given a spruce-up thanks to a team of volunteers.
Hiltingbury Junior School welcomed eleven Balfour Beatty employees from its Southampton office, who volunteered to rejuvenate teaching space there as part of Business in the Community’s annual Give and Gain Day.
The team redecorated the entrance hall of a teaching block and an adjoining classroom for pupils with special education needs.
Emmie Bundy, project manager of the event, said: “Our team of volunteers thoroughly enjoyed the day. Giving something back to our local community has been really rewarding. We hope the pupils of Hiltingbury enjoy using their newly decorated classroom, as much as our team enjoyed making it happen.”
Andy Duff, managing director for Balfour’s delivery unit in Totton, said: “Helping the next generation to realise their potential - whether that’s by building schools, taking time out to mentor or providing work experience - is really important to all of us at Balfour Beatty.”
